New Preset Browser

We've been busy working on the second version of Phrasebox, and part of this update was a huge overhaul of the preset browser. Before the beta release of Phrasebox is released, we've brought the feature over to our other plugins.

Preset Browsing

In addition to the dropdown preset selector, there is now a new window for exploring presets. If you click the icon to the left of the dropdown the new preset browser will open

In the left column you'll be able to browse folders and sub-folders. When you select a folder, the middle table will display all presets in the folder, and any sub-folders. You can right click presets to open the preset in Finder or Explorer.

When you load a preset, the right hand column will display all the metadata, which includes a description. This description field might contain extra information, such as unique features and settings.

Preset Metadata

Presets now contain extra metadata. This included the author, any categories and a description.

If you share presets with others, you will be able to see in the list which presets are from a third party. Coupling this with the new folder hierarchy lets you organise presets to suit your workflow.

There are also categories in the metadata of a preset. When you save, you can create as many categories as you want separated with a comma. Currently these are simply displayed in the table, but in the future we will be adding sorting and filtering.

The description field might contain extra information, such as unique features or settings the user may want to be aware of.

Improved Saving

When you save a preset, you can now use the OS save dialog to choose where to save. It will default to the plugin preset directory, where you can save or create sub-folder, however you can save presets wherever you please. Please note presets not in the expected folder will not show in the browser.

Before saving, you'll be offered to add some metadata. This is the author name, description, and any categories. These are optional, but is good practice to categorise and describe presets for later use.

This update is available now from your user area.
